Three of my long time friends and myself booked this short cruise to celebrate our friends 60th birthday. This sailing was a few days after Hurricane Matthew ravaged the Bahamas. Luckily for us we had beautiful weather when we left Miami and smooth sailing over to CocoCay. When we arrived in CocoCay we were pleasantly surprised that the hurricane hadn't done hardly any damage to the island. The only visible, negative affect was the poor visibility of the water. The storm left a silt on the sea bottom and when you waded thru it the water was so murky you couldn't even see your feet. Sadly, it was a bad day for the snorkelers. The weather was beautiful until we were getting ready to leave the island. Then for the next 24 hours it really rained. Still the sea was calm and lots of fun was had onboard Enchantment.

I think, Michele the Cruise Director was outstanding. He was friendly, approachable, high energy, and gave the impression he really wanted every passenger on board to have a great time. He seemed like he really enjoyed his job and his positive attitude was contagious. I have been on 27 cruises and I think he was the best Cruise Director I've ever sailed with. He really is an asset to the RCCL team.

When we awoke in Nassau, it was still raining really hard. For many people they decided to stay on board, us included. Michele and his team announced there would be added activities planned thru out the day. For us it was perfect because it gave the four of us a chance to relive the past 40 years of memories we shared. We did hear from those that did get off the ship that there was noticeable damage. Paradise Island, where the big expensive hotels and resorts are located, was all cleaned up and business as usual.

Cabin Review

Panoramic Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin F

I've been in smaller and larger ocean view cabins. This one was fine except for the love seat. The fabric was worn and it looked tired. Also, the mattress on my bed was too firm for my personal liking but our Cabin Stewardess brought a mattress pad and made it much more comfortable. I felt there was ample storage for this length of a cruise, however, if I were on a 14+ day cruise, it would be tight. I felt the room was very clean but noticed one day we did not receive wash cloths, the next day, no bath mat and again no shampoo, conditioner or body lotion was supplied. For the price you charged me for a glass of wine, I think you could have given me a tiny bottle of shampoo!! lol

Port Reviews

Miami

The Port of Miami check in terminal is very user friendly. From the time we dropped off our bags, drove 50 yards to the parking garage ($20 per day), cleared security in the terminal, had our picture taken, checked it at the Platinum Member check in counter and boarded the ship, it took approximately one hour.

Nassau

We didn't get off the ship because it was raining really hard. We've been there many, many times, though. If you've never been, I think it's worth seeing The Dolphin excursion is fun, the Straw Market is good to see once, Paradise Island and the Atlantis Hotel are worth seeing.
