We specifically chose this cruise, as we watch him on PBS, and because this cruise was billed as a hands-on cruise with Burt Wolf, who would be with us in some of the towns and host special events in some towns. However, the itinerary changed after we boarded and although Burt Wolf was there, he only gave short, 15 minute or so talks on his upcoming show plans, before the dinner hour. On three occasions, he provided passengers with with a macaroon, a small glass of Cognac, and some swiss chocolates he and his swiss counterparts had developed - with strong flavanol enhancements - that allegedly help with memory. So all-in-all, we could not recommend this trip with Burt Wolf to anyone. Our traveling companions agree. One of those couples had been on a cruise with him face years ago and said it was "great" and that's why they signed up for this one. They too were very disappointed.
Having cruised before, I have to say the upgraded cabin (not a suite, but not a standard room either) was "sufficient" for our needs, tight, but sufficient for our needs.
The food was very good, and the towns in which we stopped along the Garonne River were quite nice. And the staff? The staff were excellent - mostly all from Eastern European countries. And the service was very good.
Small. Compact. Efficient. What I would consider a "standard room".
