Overall a good experience, however, our cabin 6270 was placed right above the 4D cinema, it resulted in a noise-level over over 90 dB in the cabin, and a vibrating floor.
Please read the full cabin-review below.
We did the Mediteranian tour from Savona-Marseilles-Barcelone-Mallorca-Rome and La Spezia
Went on a cruise with Costa Diadema in a Premium Cabin, no. 6270. Please be aware that if you book this cabin there is A LOT of noise from the 4D cinema which is located directly underneath the cabin. It’s probably a problem in other cabin in the vicinity as well, but I don’t know for a fact.
I measured the noise to 90 dB in the cabin, and the floor was vibrating, it’s like they didn’t put any sound insulation between the floors.
Only good thing is that the shows stops at 24.00, and that it only runs if there are sufficient guest, however, it was nerv wrecking when it was running.
We tried to get another cabin, or get them to lower the volume, however, the Costa crew didn’t care about it, I think they considered os hysteric
A shame, since the cruise overall was good, however, there’s a lot of noise everywhere, music in the hallways etc., but you can live with that. However, I would like to warn you about the 4D cinema, the noise-level is insane.
Apart from that, there's a smoking-area right underneath the balcony, so if you enjoy sitting outside be prepared for some smoke, however, it's not that bad, but it's there.
Cruise port right next to the city center, nice.
Marseille is a dump, not worth a visit, dirty, feels like a city which is dissolving. 1,5 km walk to the public buses. No free transfer bus from the ship.
Harbour shuttle buses directly from the ship to the start of the Rambla, I think it was 3,- Euro pr. person, very reasonable, public buses, not Costa coaches.
Public buses right outside the ship, very nice, 3,- Euro to get to the Palma City center. It's also possible to rent cars, bicycles etc. directly at the cruise terminal.
Free shuttle buses to get to Civitavecchia, from there you will have to walk 1,5-2 km to get to the railway station to catch a train to Rome, or take another shuttle bus to the railway station.
Buy a BIRG ticket, which will give you access to buses and Metro in Rome. BIRG ticket only goes for local trains, not the faster InterCity. Tickets can only be bought at the railway station.
Free shuttle buses to get to the city centre (cruise terminal). From there you can catch a public train to Cinque Terre, the railway station is apps. 1,5 km from the Cruise Terminal.
