My husband and I surprised our 3 kids with this cruise. My cousin and her husband and 2 kids also took the cruise. This was their first cruise, as well as our own kids first cruise. It started out with leaving port 2 hours late as we were told they were waiting for people. We went to the elevators to our staterooms, and immediately were hit with the smell of sewage...the odor lasted the entire trip and on every level of the ship next to the room elevators. 2 of the 6 elevators did not work, causing guests to have to wait and upwards of 10 minutes to get on an elevator. When we entered our stateroom we noticed that our bathroom floor had been patched with a bright blue tape like material. No hot water to shower. The bathroom outlets did not work and the bathroom was not equipped with a hair dryer as most bathrooms are. I called and they sent a hair dryer to us though. Our first port to Nassau was uneventful...Our second port was carnivals own Half Moon Cay port...this port was beautiful. We had planned an excursion which we found out was cancelled upon getting on the Island. We were disappointed but due to the weather it was necessary and we were fine with hanging out on the beautiful beach....When we boarded the ship in the afternoon, the captain reported the weather in the Grand Turks (our next and final port) was a bit rough and overcast. We had a REALLy rough night..the waves were rocking boat pretty good. My cousin and her family all were Sea sick even after using motion patches and pills. Again, this happens to some...We got up the next morning and at 11am the captain came on and stated due to the weather and for he safety of the guest and crew they would not port at Grand Turks and there was no other viable ports so we would be have 2 days at sea. Of course we were disappointed...but what we couldn't understand was why would you risk your guests and crew to travel to an area you know the day before was poor weather. Why couldnt we have just stayed at Half Moon Cay..stayed and extra day there instead of 1000+ people being put at risk in the rough waters...We saw so many people fall and be sick. Again, I know the weather was not the fault of Carnival, but the poor planning and condition of the ship was an issue....The water in the pool had been tossed out so only about 3 foot of water remained on Thursday...they didn't refill it till Friday afternoon. The ship had little to do except drink and gamble. All of the kids activities/clubs either never opened the entire cruise or were not what was advertised...the water park for the young kids was actually turned off...so all of these people on a ship 1 small pool half empty, drinking..angry about being stuck for 2 days on rough water....it was a bad situation to say the least. Needless to say when we got into port in Miami to get off the ship,..It was a free for all...Everyone wanted off and the zone assignments for disembarkation went out the window....it was scary!!! I have cruised before and this cruise and ship was absolutely a nightmare...The ship was old, outdated, poorly maintained....the food was so so....a lot of the same food every day. The 1 show that was planned for the cruise was great. The Crew tried their best...I had 1 incident during debarkation during the caos...I looked at my husband and asked where do we go and a crew member yelled "OUT"!!! I called Carnival today to file a complaint and was told Thanks for the info....WHAT????? I will not use Carnival again...simply because of the lake of concern for our experience. My kids couldnt wait to get back to school...that should say it all....My cousin and her family will not cruise again....Very disappointed and discouraged.....
