Sail Date: Feb 2009

We sailed on the Carnival Freedom on Feb. 14, 2009.  Went to Cozumel, Costa Rica, and Panama.  It was my 10th cruise on Carnival and i stay loyal to them due to their Military pricing!I was worried after reading so many neagtive reviews from the decor of the ship, to the service, and soup that was too hot!  I still can't believe that one!Embarkation - we had a category 11 room, plus it was my 10th cruise with Carnival so that entitled us to the VIP check in.  Awesome!  Quick and no problems.  This can be a very time consuming process, 2978 people all trying to get to the same place at the same time.  For the peeps out there that pitch a fit, I say, pony up the green backs for a category 11 or 12 room.  Or, just deal with it.The room - Category 11 - room 7272.  Really close to the elevators, but heard no extra noise.  The room was ready when we got on and it was clean, fresh, and ready to go.  Double sinks, a full size tub, and plenty of closet space.  the bed and pillows were very comfortable.  Nice, large balcony.  The room steward was always available and courtoues.  room service was very good too, gotta love the BLT's!The decor of the ship - so many people are saying its gaudy or gross.  We found it to be fine.  Was it the best I have ever seen?  No.  Was it the worst?  No.  I shook my head in disbelief when I read another review stating that they did not partake in the activities becasue the ship was so ugly.  I say to them, GOOD!  I wouldn't want to see your sour puss's on the Lido deck, when the other 2,976 people are having fun!  Stay in your room and complain that they don't get Sports Center on the TV.Service - OUTSTANDING.  Our head witer and Ass't were excellent.  Very attentive and always willing to go that extra step.  The bar service was great too.  Igor remembered my drink of choice every night (a tall Jack and Diet w/a lime).  The food selection, quality, and taste was very good.  I laughed so hard when I read a review, some woman was complaining that her soup was too hot!  Unreal!  The Supper Club was well worth the extra money.  The food and service were out of this world.  Just wish they still had live music.  It was nice to dance up there before.  Mama Jo, who worked at the wine bar remembered our names every night, even when we pasted going to dinner!  Captains night was memorable, as I got engaged in front of 1000 of my new friends!  The repeat cruise cocktail party was also a lot of fun.Ports -Cozumel - been there a couple times before and have done some really good snorkeling, done the ruins, and horse back riding.  We decided to do some shopping and have a few local drinks at smaller bars.  Then we hit the unreal Senor Frogs, Carlos and Charlies, and Margariteville!  If you have never been to that Margaritaville, go check it out.  great DJ, great drinks, and try the fresh guacamole!  It is fantastic.  We sat in the swings and just chilled.  We stopped by Fat Tuesdays on the way back and danced some, met a lot of nice people, and had some more drinks  :o)Costa Rica - Beautiful.  We took a tram ride over the rain forest and our guide pointed out the types of wild life, trees, and flowers that were indigenous to that area.  It was really cool to be about 180 feet over the canopy of the jungle!  Then we did the zip lining!  If have never done it, TRY IT!  It was unbelievable!  Reminded me of my times in the Marines, fast roping and repelling.Panama - Really cool to see the Canal.  We kayaked in the canal that was fun, but a little bit of a work out.  It was cool though, we saw monkeys jumping from tree to tree.Entertainment on the ship - The shows were very good, especially the late night comedians!  Piano bar was fun, just wished he knew "Jack + Diane".  The casino was fun, we made a little bit of money.  the cruise director was very, verg good.  He quoted his mento over the P.A., he said, "Love people, not things.  Use things, not people".  How true.  i use that at work now.  we could all learn from that one.Overall, it was a great trip, on a great ship.  I would recommend it to anyone and I would go on the Freedom again.
