Our Royal Caribbean cruise started off well. Embarkation was smooth and efficient. We found the Majesty of the Seas’ public areas clean and inviting. Our oceanview cabin was functional but very small. We enjoyed the service provided by our waiter, assistant waiter and bartenders. All of our food was good.
For the first time in 20 cruises, we were forced to miss a cruise port. While unfortunate, we appreciate the captain’s tough decision to pass on our stop to Coco Cay for our safety. The winds we saw weren’t a challenge for the Majesty but we could understand that the tender boats might have difficulty.
We are really disappointed at a number of other events during our cruise; all of which seem preventable:
Our cabin was functional. It is small when compared to cabins in other ships. If the cabin is only a place to change and sleep then it performs that function quite well. People who plan to spend any amount of time in their cabin will not enjoy the cabin.
We read about the increasing crime on the island and the evidence was apparent. There was a police officer or two on almost every corner on Bay Street. We walked about 1 block South of Bay Street and quickly got the feeling that we didn't want to be there so we quickly returned to Bay Street. The upgraded sidewalks at Bay Street and West Street make walking to Junkanoo beach much better.
