We just returned from our 2nd cruise on the Escape and had a great time! Unique for this ship is the fun water-slide Aqua Racer where you ride on a tube. (Didn't try the drop slides, so will leave those for others to tell you about.) Also love the Food Republic which we wish they would add to more ships. It's additional charge to eat here but well worth it. Also saw 'Oh What a Night' in the Supper club. It was free to see, and food was OK, but not great. The show, a tribute to Frankie Valli songs, was very entertaining. The main show, For the Record, was in the main show room. It was OK, but not our favorite.
We didn't eat in the buffet, but did enjoy the mini-breakfast buffet that was served some mornings in the Margaritaville venue. Breakfast included made to order omelets and was complimentary. We had one lunch at Margaritaville (for $$) to use our food credit, but wouldn't go back to spend our own money. Just not as good as a land-based Margaritaville. We also ate at Le Bistro and Cagney's. Both were good but now missing the Lobster tail from the Surf and Turf.
The funnest part for this trip was our first time in an Aft Facing Balcony that included two loungers, two chairs and a small table. We spent quite a bit of time enjoying that balcony. There was adequate storage in the room, but we did miss having a drawer or two.
The cabin is a regular balcony room, but the actual balcony is about 8 x 10 feet. Had room for two loungers, two chairs and a small table. The accessible cabin next door had a much bigger balcony, but ours was great. Our deck had room for lounger by the sliding door and then the chairs by the rail (so we could lounge under the overhang to block too much sun.) Didn't hear anything from the parties at Spice H20 on deck 17. There were some Inside family cabins that were on a corridor by our cabin door, but we didn't hear anything from all the kids until we opened our door. Had great view of our wake and loved to spend time out there.
