This was our 6th cruise on Celebrity, and we are still fans of the line, particularly the Silhouette. The cruise was a new routing round the Med, including ports either not visited by us, or last seen many years ago. The October weather was good overall.
The main things we like about Celebrity are the staff, the excellent food and service in all outlets, whether the MDR, buffet, or other outlets such as Spa cafe. We have not tried speciality restaurants so far.
The quality of the shows had in our view dipped a little. Good individual performers were in greater number than the odd poor one. The full scale showtime type of entertainment was lacking this year; in the past there have been excellent aerialists for example. The sound volume seemed too loud to us.
Wandered around Salerno. Very nice old town, promenade, cafes and shops.
Taormina is great to walk round but usually crowded.
Walked around on a wet day. Lots of pedestrian friendly areas with an excellent amphitheater and castle. Lots of shops.
We've been before so walked in off the ship and covered most of the attractive walkways and squares.
A pleasant surprise. Beautiful coastal promenade via parks and the cathedral and fort. About 5 miles long. Large Henry Moore sculptures in cathedral square.
Repeat visit with long time in between. Walked up to old town and climbed up to the cathedral. Very pleasant.
We took the ships tour to Aix en Provence. The guide was useless but the place was lovely. More time needed and the walking tour was poor so we abandoned it.
We were bussed to and from Civitavecchia from Rome airport by the cruise line and this was very efficient indeed.
