First of all the ship is beautiful, massive, and yet are embarkation was seamless. We decided to go to Cafe @Two70 for lunch instead of the Windjammer and the crowds were light and the food good. We were able to check into our room around 1:00 and received our luggage around 1:30. We had D-5 balcony room and had plenty of storage. My only complaint would be that the beds are very uncomfortable. I asked our room attendant if we could get a mattress cover and I guess they don't provide those any more. Oh well, we will survive.
Entertainment on board: I signed us up for "iFly" and that was so much fun. I'm not going to lie, I was terrified, but the instructors are wonderful and put you to ease. You do have to remove all jewelry, so ladies keep that in mind if you decide to go. North Star was interesting, but not the fun we had with "iFly". I guess because of all the interest they can no longer go over the side of the ship, but just straight up and therefore a much shorter ride. There is so much to do on the ship, no one should ever be board. Shows: The Gift was a little weird, but enjoyed. Spectre's Cabaret, I didn't enjoy at all. It's unfortunate, because there is tremendous talent, but the lead was annoying. We saw some people leave. "We will Rock you" is a blast from the past. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the show.
Dining: It is so hard to rate a dining venue because it is so subjective, but over all we had good food. Here is a break down: The Grand, I had two really good meals and my husband only one. Solarium Bistro, we only ate there one night and it was decent. Jamie's Italian, Oh My Goodness...Fantastic. We ate there twice and pretty sure I'm still wearing about 5 pounds on my back side. My husband is still talking about Jamie's Italian. Chops Grill, we ate there once and my meal was very good, my husband was disappointed. Windjammer, we ate there one night and the variety is impressive and the food surprising good. American Icon Grill we ate at twice and my first meal was awful, but my second was fantastic. All of the complimentary restaurants change up their menu on the 4 day. If you eat at the Grand for 3 night in a row, you will see the same menu and the same goes for the rest. It so depends on what you order, but try different things because you might be surprised. Seriously, if you don't like your meal, send it back and get something different. They really want to please you.
The cabin was very nice and had lots of storage. Our room attendant "Dawn" was wonderful. My only complaint were the beds. They are hard and very uncomfortable.
Loved the port. We did the Hop on-Hop-off. It's a great way to see the city on your own time
Very pretty port. Unfortunately, it rained and it was cold. We did the Maine Foodie Tours and it was fun. We tired lots of different things to include: Lobster Mac & Cheese, different cheeses, scones, ice cream, and my favorite at an Irish Pub and they served beer with chowder. Wonderful
My favorite port. It was very cold and windy. We took a tour to Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain. Be sure a dress properly because it is very cold.
This was embarkation day and it went very smooth.
