Hawaii was always on our bucket list, really wanted to make the most of discovering it and decided the best way to get an overview was a cruise around the 4 main islands. Was worried about the cruise due to reviews read and forums on trip advisor but pleased to have gone ahead with the idea despite the readings as it was a good way to see the islands. Embarking process was well organised from luggage drop off to boarding and only a short wait for cabins to be ready. Buffet restaurant had a good variety and reasonably fresh foods on offer.
Our 1st night was a nightmare, CHECK WHERE YOUR ROOM IS!!! We discovered we were under the kitchen of the Moderno Restaurant so all night up to 1am and then from 5:30am there were all those kitchen noises imaginable, trolleys, stainless steel clanging and banging together, footsteps, even talking between staff. After letting Guest Services know the next day they organised another room for us, soooo pleased about that, we would not have survived 7 nights of it.
So many people complained about all sorts of things in their reviews...to summarise the food choices are great, there were a variety of restaurants to choose from, nightly entertainment worth seeing and enjoyable, staff friendly and helpful, good ports to visit, tender not a tedious task and we got to get a taste of what each island offered. A few negatives that I feel u should be aware of though: the pool deck and pool is quite small in size for the amount of travellers with not enough seating and deckchairs. there is a need for more shaded areas on Deck 11 and 12 as it tended to be sooo hot here with too many open areas.
This room was under the Moderno kitchen, the ship should really consider sound proofing or using these areas for something else, not passenger cabins!
Prices were crazy compared to organising locally, we also found out that the first 1500 people at the Pearl harbour site gets in free
