  3. Adventure of the Seas
We just got back from our Southern Caribbean Cruise on Adventure of the Seas. There were 5 of us total (56, 51, 27, 25 & 23) and each of us had an extremely great time!!! This was our 2nd time on Royal (Sailed last May on Liberty of the Seas) and 5th cruise overall as a family.   Embarkation/Arrival: Our trip started off great at the Marriott San Juan the Saturday prior. The hotel was nice, clean and sufficient for the one night that we were there. We did enjoy the smoke-free casino and the pool area at the resort. The Sunday of Embarkation was very smooth (except for the scary taxi ride) and we were on the boat and in the Windjammer within 20 minutes after arriving at the Pier at 11:30 AM. Kudos to Royal Caribbean in San Juan!!   Staterooms: We enjoyed this boat very much and found it to be very similar (though smaller) to the Liberty of the Seas. We had two balcony rooms in our group, 6234 and 7328. Both were great locations near the elevators. Our room attendant in 7328 was fantastic and one of the nicest individuals. We already miss her!!!   Entertainment: We went to all the shows in the Lyric Theater throughout the week and the ice skating show in studio B. We did all agree that the entertainment was better this year on the Adventure then last year on the Liberty. The first night we had a comedian that was hilarious!! We also had the group "Tribute," which was a tribute to the Temptations. They were very good and we truly enjoyed this show. The ice skating show was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the Love and Marriage as well as Quest. The two shows were Invitation to Dance and one with movie tunes. There was one RC singer that was awesome. She was from Columbus, Ga and consistently did a great job (even on the Whitney Houston songs). We were slightly disappointed that there was a singer on the boat from the Liberty last year as we didn't care too much for him then or on this cruise (but he had improved!) The only night we didn't care for the entertainment was the farewell show. We found the juggler (Jeff) to be a little weird and not too entertaining.   The person that made our trip very memorable was the activities director/assistant cruise director, Lulu (AKA: Lucky Lulu). She was so personal, full of energy and a lot of fun. She was in charge of all the Bingo activities and made them so enjoyable (that and the new Bingo machines). She even gave our family a nickname and would always shout it at us every time she saw us! We actually wish that she was the cruise director!!! As for the cruise director, he was ok to below average. We thought he did a good job with the marriage show and quest, but other than that seemed to lack energy as past cruise directors. We also rarely saw him (not even some nights in the Lyric). His name was Casey Pelter.   Our family also enjoyed the Casino, especially on sea days when it went Smoke-Free at 7:00 PM. The dealers for the most part were very friendly, helpful and personal. We did have a great lucky streak on this cruise as our family won Bingo 3 times, won the 1st blackjack tourney, became a finalist in the slot tourney and hit some great hands in Let it Ride and Caribbean Stud! It was won of the 1st times coming back from a cruise with a few extra dollars!!!   Dinning: We thoroughly enjoyed the dinning and dinning room experiences this year. We had a very good server/assistant server, Farhad and Sarah!!! They worked very hard the entire week at ensuring that we were 100% satisfied. The food seemed to also be better this year compared to the Liberty.   We ate at Johnny Rockets twice this year and looked forward to our next visit aboard a RC ship. The burgers and chili cheese fries were absolutely amazing and worth the $4.95 surcharge!   The other place on the boat we thoroughly enjoyed was the Cafe Promenade. We enjoyed the Pizza and the service. There was a lady that worked their name Deyra from Turkey. She was friendly and sweet and went out of our way to ensure we enjoyed our vacation. She worked herself silly though as she was always there (midnight, 7 AM, noon, it didn't matter.). I truly hope she gets some rest soon. We like her so much we got her a small gift from St. Thomas. If anyone sails on the Adventure soon, make sure to stop by and say hello from her Florida friends.   Excursions:   Aruba: We booked the full day Jeep Excursion through Royal Caribbean. This tour was great. We were in a Land Rover and visited the Natural Bridge site, an old mine, the light house, points along the coast and a visit to De Palm Island. The guide was extremely friendly and professional. We highly recommend this tour.   Curacao: We booked the Aquaboat Tour through Royal Caribbean. This was horrible and probably the worst shore excursion ever. If you ever have the urge to experience Jet Ski's in the Caribbean, do it elsewhere (I recommend Island Marketing in Cayman). I posted a lengthy review I the Curacao board discussing the tour.   Dominica: We loved our tour with Levi from Bumpiing tours. Our driver was Chris, who was friendly and professional. They all went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our tour and their island. We visited the Tito Gorge (Amazing experience!!), Trafalgar Falls and Mourne Bruce. Dominica was a beautiful island, although a very poor island.   St. Thomas: This was unanimously our favorite stop and excursion ever all thanks to Mike and Lauren with Island Girl We took the ½ day sail/snorkel aboard the Island Girl and had the most amazing adventure. We were promptly met at the pier and escorted the sail boat for our morning tour. We were taken to Turtle Cove where we were each given snorkel scooters and given a private snorkel tour of the area. We saw many turtles, fish, stingrays and even a barracuda. Most of my family doesn't like snorkeling, but each continue to rave about the scooters and the fun of this tour. The sail and boat were great and Lauren and Mike went out of their way to ensure we had a great time!! This tour is awesome and a great value!!!   Disembarkation: The new way that Royal does this is fantastic. We were able to stay in our stateroom until a designated time (10:15 for us). Once it was our time we went to our waiting area (Studio B), where we were promptly escorted off the ship and to our luggage. We were off the boat and in a taxi within 15 minutes from leaving our stateroom. Big Kudos to Royal Caribbean!!!   Overall we had an awesome time and can't wait until our next cruise in May 10, although we might try to sneak in a three day cruise in December!!!!

Awesome Trip with Lucky Lulu!!!!
