This is our fourth cruise on Celebrity. The other three were Caribbean, one on the Solstice and two on the Summit. I've always told people that my husband likes cruising more than I do. After this cruise, I am hooked. No renting cars, no checking into hotels, no navigating to the next town and the BEST SERVICE one can imagine.
We got to Venice two days early and enjoyed the city. Took a water taxi to the port for 80 euros. Very easy embarkation. One negative compared to embarkation on the Summit was that the Summit made us, as suite level guests, feel very special. Here it felt like a normal check in. Our room was the Celebrity Suite which we had on the Summit before. Butler and room attendant were very attentive. The cabin is spacious with two TVs, dining table, pull out couch and a curved veranda. However, the bathroom is not for anyone with mobility issues. It is a big step down from the tub to the floor. There really needs to be a handle bar to help you get out of the tub.
Ship is spotless. DH thought it was more beautiful than the Summit but in all fairness the last time we were on the Summit was before it's refurbishing. The public art is pretty bad. However, it does have a Chiully sculpture outside of Reflections.
Very spacious but the bathtub/shower is very difficult to get out of. I would not recommend this cabin to anyone with mobility issues for this reason.
Really glad I got to see this beautiful city. Two days was enough for us. Easy trip to the ship from our hotel via water taxi.
Our favorite port. Sailing through the fjord-like scenery is lovely. We walked halfway up the mountain to the old church for the views. Ate at a lovely outdoor café. The local wine was delicious. Tender to ship.
Did a quick walk around the old fort in Civiavecchia.
We had a pre-arranged driver pick us up. Glad he did the driving. Took us to Positano for a quick break. Then to Sorrento with lunch with a view. Long day (8+ hours) but it was worth it.
