We chose this cruise because we wanted to see something of Australia. Solstice is an excellent ship in size amenities and the crew were all excellent with the exception of some of the customer service staff and the excursion organisation was extremely poor onboard. The food was very good with excellent choices for all tastes in the areas we used, but along with most cruises the buffet could be a real bunfight with tables being unavailable at times due to too many people. Entertainment was poor overall with some good guest artists thrown in. The music during the day time was OK but too loud, you couldn't hold a conversation. Service from staff in all areas other than customer service was excellent. At start of cruise, pressure to purchase packages was a bit too hard sell. We enjoyed all of the ports we visited and went on several excursions although the tendering experience was long and quite arduous on a couple. The one excursion we suggest you avoid is the Harbour Eco and Wildlife Park (I cant remember the exact name). This was a boat ride around the harbour which was completely unexciting as there was nothing worth seeing (the highlight was meant to be a visit to a crocodile trap the guide then told us they hadn't seen a crocodile for two years) The trip to the wildlife park was an absolute farce. This park can only described as a children's zoo as 90% of the animals are in glass cages. All of the shows that may take place had either already taken place before we got there or we were due to leave before they were due (bad planning by the excursion team yet again) to take place.

Cabin Review

AquaClass 2

Cabin A2

The cabin we had was 1509 Aqua Class. Do not, I repeat do not, book this cabin as the noise from other activities on the ship are quite loud and take place at any time between 06:00 and 23:45. We complained about noise but were told that the ship would do whatever they could (it wasn't very successful especially at night from lounge at front of ship)

Other than the noise a very nice cabin. Typical fixtures and fittings along with most cruises.

Port Reviews

Sydney (Australia)

Excellent port with all the touristy thing to do like the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge

Brisbane

Worth just taking a free water taxi to the other side of the river and then walking the park and man made beach. Lots of places to eat and drink.
