Went on this Carnival Canadian Cruise because we couldnt afford the Alaskan cruise lol!-Anyway had a great time-We cruised October 8-13; I went with my husband. 2 adult tickets including prepaid gratuities and port fees came to $1200 which Carnival allows you to make monthly payments on. The embarkation port was in Manhattan and the process was very smooth. When we got on the boat we were immediately able to go into our rooms, however it took about 2 hours to get the luggage, but that wasnt a problem at all. The Sunshine ship was really nice. It was clean, easy to maneuver in , and alot of activities. Our room was the cheapest stateroom on the 2nd floor, tiny but comfortable and clean. We had a king size bed, a tv with a few channels that played movies and news networks, a desk, and small closet and a safe. The cleaning crew was really nice and always kept our room tidy. We received a new towel animal daily and they were really cute. The shops on the ship included jewerly, perfume, liquor and variety of other items. They were really overpriced but that was expected. The candy shop was nice and prices werent to bad. There were plenty of bars and the drinks were good. There was a sports bar which showed sports games however it was a bit disappointing as they only showed 1 game at a time on multiple tvs. My husband and other patrons werent too happy about this. There are plenty of eating options with the food being really good. The boat had Guy Fieri burger joint and it was delish. We went to the sit down dinning option every night for dinner where my husband had steaks and pork chops every night. Im a vegetarian and they had vegetarian options too. They had 3 restaurants that you can pay extra for, but the food included in the ticket was enough. I went to the Asian sushi place and for $5 I got a sushi roll, coke, and a bowl of edamame, which was a good price. We watched a few of the shows at night which were really great. They were a 50's motown dancing show, a 70's disco dancing show and a rock show-all broadway like style. We also saw 2 comedians which were funny. All around the entertainement was good. Our first port was St Johns Bay. There isnt too much to do in this port other than shopping unless you do a shore excursion. There is alot of nature excursions including the Bay of Fundy, however it is a bit away from the boat and you have to do a shore excursion for that. The next port was Halifax . This port was beautiful . We walked on the boardwalk and saw alot of boats, tug boats , shops and eateries. Then we went to the Maritime Museum which was awesome. They had alot of real artifacts from the Titanic as well as other sunken ships. The museum was only $11 per person but well worth it. There is also an old military fort just about 2 blocks from the museum you can visit, but we didnt have time. Anyway the trip was worth it and we had a good time. I see alot of negative reviews about Carnival . This is our 3rd Carnival cruise and the only thing I can say is you get what you pay for. It isnt a luxury cruise with a luxury room and luxury food, but its a great time, with great food , great activities and clean room.

Small room but we had the cheapest stateroom on the 2nd floor. King size bed, tv with movie and news channels, a desk, closet with a safe, small bathroom. The room was cleaned daily --good value for the price

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

embarkation was easy and smooth

Saint John (New Brunswick)

Not alot to do unless you do a shore excursion, which is mostly alot of nature excursions. You can see the Bay of Fundy and some nature walks which must be booked. Some shopping in St Johns Bay and alot of artwork to see on the streets. We saw a nice working light house.

Halifax

Very nice port. We walked on the boardwalk, which had alot of ships and tugboats to look at. Also lots of eateries and shops on the boardwalk. We went to the Maritime museum which was awesome--so much to see there--definitely recommend that. There is also an old military fort you can visit too. The museum and the fort are a short walking distance from the port
