We chose this cruise for the dates (our 30th anniversary) and the itinerary. We arrived in a very rainy and wet Venice the day before the cruise and stayed near the people mover at the Hotel Olimpia, which we can thoroughly recommend. On the morning of embarkation, we left our luggage at the hotel and walked to St Marks Square and back through a warren of streets and canals to collect our luggage. The people mover is literally 200 or 300 metres from the Olimpia, but there are a couple of bridges to drag heavy suitcases over. The Vision was berthed nearest to the people mover so it wasn't much of a walk to get there.
We have just become Diamond members in the Crown and Anchor club and we were really impressed with the services this gave us access to, particularly the diamond lounge where at any time you could get a snack and a good cup of coffee. In the early evening you are also served complimentary drinks, alcohol and appetisers by the concierge Patricia and her staff.
As other people have said Vision is a smaller ship but very easy to get around. The other good parts of this ship are the staff and the amount of games and daytime activities but the evening shows were a little dire. However, I have to say that this was our 10th trip with RCI and the most disappointing by far food wise. The quality and selection in the Aquarius has definitely suffered major cut backs and even though our waiters, Victor and Marcos were very friendly and efficient, we felt very rushed and requests for anything like premium coffee etc were met with a slight tut of inconvenience. There is also a lot of pushing towards the extra cost restaurants like Chops Grille (which we did and was excellent) and Giovannis, but we were frequently offered them for half price which was a little annoying as we prepaid and paid the full amount.
Dated but clean and comfortable.
We did a privately organised Game of a thrones tour and it was very good for us fans of the show.
We have done Ephesus before so just walked and did a little shopping but first nod the shopkeepers very pushy.
We did our own things no again and caught a speed boat to Oia and they also provide transport back to Fira for 15 euros pp.
Not cel little town for a wander and no hassle from the shop keepers.
Hotel Olimpia recommended for staying near the people mover.
