This ship was very dated, worn and grubby. It was advertised as being renovated recently but there was no sign of anything renovated at all in all public rooms and cabin. They took extra money from you for everything including bottled water, an extra dish to share for 4 in the main restaurant and other small things that would be free on other cruise lines. The dining was very average and even in the much hyped Pinnacle Grill, the food was ordinary. I ordered a steak which was totally inedible being all fat and gristle. The rude waitress whisked the plate away with a dirty look and no apology. The shore excursions were very expensive and most had to be taken from a tender which meant being there 1-1.5 hours earlier than advertised. The service was average and at times they seemed disinterested in assisting with anything. I would never go on Holland America again under any circumstances. We will stick with the cruise lines we know that will be of a much higher standard for the same or lesser cost.
The cabin was large enough with plenty of storage but was filthy, dated and worn. There was even food and other rubbish on the grubby carpet when we arrived. I had to spend quite a bit of time cleaning chairs etc before we could use them. Nothing was cleaned whilst we were in there - not even a vacuum of the carpet.
