Would definitely recommend this ship, and we do not usually sail with Carnival. Chose this cruise because we loved the itinerary and long days in each port. We knew this was a very port intensive cruise rather than a laid back relaxing cruise like going to the Caribbean. We mostly joined many private excursions which saved us a great deal of money, and allowed us to travel comfortably and meet many wonderful people. We did do CARNIVAL's excursion to Tsambika beach in Rhodes which we enjoyed. It is a much larger ship than we have previously cruised on and expected there would be lines for everything yet this was not the case; we barely ever had to wait in line. There were so many fun things to do on the 2 sea days we had. Loved the brewery, sky ride (free), obstacle course (free) and water slides. The pools were small however there were a few so it did not seem cramped. The ship is beautifully decorated with ample space to sit while eating at the buffet. Although we were not impressed with the food in the main dining room except on the formal nights, the steakhouse (which does have an additional charge), Guy's Burger's (free) and pizza (free) were amazing. Ice cream was available 24hrs/d. The staff were awesome: friendly, helpful and accomodating. Our cabin stewards and wait staff couldn't have been more doting.

Cabin 4H

If you don't like to sleep cabin 9405 is for you. I sleep with ear plugs and my husband is a deep sleeper and we were both awakened several nights at 1:15 & 4:15 am by noise which appeared to be coming from behind our cabin. After 3 nights of reporting this to guest relations and guest relations trying their best to figure it out, we were moved to an outside cabin 1277 on deck 1 which was quiet and wonderful. Thank you so much to helpful guest relations staff fixing this issue!

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Great city which can easily be navigated through walking, metro and buses.

Marseille

Went to Arles and Marseille on a private tour. This was not one of our favorite ports,

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Took a private tour to Cinque Terre which was beautiful. A great deal of walking up and down inclines was involved, but beautiful villages and great food and wine.

Naples

Did a DIY day in Capri which was easy to do from the Naples port. Ordered hydrofoil tickets online prior to sailing, walked about 3-5 minutes from the cruise ship to the ferry and had an awesome day on the beautiful island of Capri. Lines were not too bad for the funicular or buses in Capri maybe because it was October. We had amazing pizza, delicious cannoli and coffee in Capri.

Crete (Heraklion)

Did a walking tour of Herkalion which we thoroughly enjoyed. Great shopping and food in this port.

Izmir

This port was cancelled prior to sail due to instability in Turkey

Athens (Piraeus)

We did a wonderful private tour of Athens and Cape Sounion which included Acropolis, Plaka, changing of the guards, olympic stadium, arch, temple of poseidon, etc..
