My step-daughter and I went to Barcelona a few days before the cruise departed. We enjoyed exploring the city and seeing it's beautiful architecture. The afternoon we boarded, things went very smoothly from checking our bags with the porter outside, to checking in and getting our room key, to finding our cabin. We were staying in a Spa Suite and our cabin was clean and ready for us when we arrived. The cabin was spacious, with two twin beds, that were very comfy after walking around our ports all day. There was plenty of closet space for our belongings. The bathroom had double sinks, a spa tub, and shower. Our room steward, Eddy was always nearby and ready to help out.

Because our itinerary was very port intensive and we had long excursions planned, we selected the any time dining option. We never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seated, and the service was adequate. The food was never great, and I was super disappointed about the desserts. I'm not usually a buffet person, but on this cruise, the buffet food was far better than the dining room food.

The Vista is a brand new ship, so of course everything is sparkly and new, with no wear and tear yet. I enjoyed the LCD funnel in the atrium, although I missed the glass elevators. Speaking of elevators, one of my pet peeves on the ship was that you could not push a single button to call all elevators in a section. You had to walk and push each button, by each individual elevator.

Cabin Review

Cloud 9 Spa suite

Cabin SS

Our Cloud 9 Spa Suite was perfect. It was spacious and comfortable. Two twin beds that can be put together to make a king size bed. A couch that can be turned down to make an extra bed. There is a nice size desk/vanity area. Two closets with more than enough space for our belongings.

The bathroom has a double vanity and a jetted tub with shower.

The balcony, was a typical balcony. Nothing special about it.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

We flew in a few days early and stayed at a quaint bed and breakfast. We walked around the city admiring the beautiful and vibrant architecture. One of the most beautiful things we saw was the Basicila de la Sagrada Familia, which is a giant church that has been under construction since 1883 and is still not finished.

The Las Ramblas was a lot of fun, with all of the shops and cafes, but my favorite was the market place.

Rhodes

Not our favorite port at all. There were people sitting everywhere we went begging for money. We could not get anyone to help us with directions. They would just look at us like we were aliens. We walked a few miles looking for a beach that a taxi driver told us was a 5 minute walk. When we finally got there, the beach was all pebbles. As far as we could see in either direction, there was no sand, only pebbles. Well, pebbles hurt when you walk on them. We ended up sitting at the casino pool. There was a bar and bathrooms. The pool was clean and we were the only people there.

Later in the day, we went shopping inside the castle walls and enjoyed looking at all the locally made items. We bought a few things and ended our day meeting some friendly shop keepers.
