My husband and I, along with another couple, were looking for an affordable Alaskan Cruise that we could book at last minute, and this particular seven day cruise fit a date that worked for all of us. Nothing went terribly wrong, however the ship, and everything we experienced on the ship, was all very average.

First of all, the ship itself is outdated. There was zero "wow" factor. The Atrium was nothing to look at. The ship had only a handful of shops. Small casino. The colors and furniture in the rooms, and around the ship, all needed updated. The entertainment was far from top-notch. The talent could easily be compared to what you would expect from a show at your high school. The staff was friendly when they had to be, but most appeared as though it was just a job. No one went out of their way to be friendly and make anything feel special. We expected exceptional treatment in the dining room, but again, nothing special. The wait staff was busy and just doing their jobs, and compared to other cruises that we have been on, they were not very attentive. If you wanted coffee, they brought you the first cup, but then never came by to refill it, or even ask if you wanted more. On more than one occasion we had to flag our server down and ask, and then it just seemed like it was a hassle. Again, we've been on cruises where the wait staff actually got to know our names and interacted with us, AND had our drinks refilled before we had even taken the last sip. There was none of that here.

Some of the desserts on the buffet were truly to die for- delicious!, but you had to get there early because they seemed to run out quickly, and then they would just put in the fillers. And speaking of the buffet area...it felt very cramped. Of course it was a busy place, but the tables were so close together, and it seemed wherever we went we were bumping into someone. (The Golden Corral buffet restaurant came to mind.) They did have quite a big selection and variety of food, so there certainly was something for everyone. Kids would love it.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Our cabin was bigger than we anticipated and had plenty of closet and storage space. But the furniture was worn, and the colors outdated. Also, it could have been cleaner. There was dust on ledges, and corners were missed in the bathroom on the vanity, and in the medicine cabinet. Not too big of a deal, as I just gave it all a quick wipe down, but still....
