Norwalk virus carrier can take down your organs

Crown Princess Cruise Review by Islands7

Trip Details
  • Sail Date: Jan 2013
  • Destination: the Southern Caribbean
  • Cabin Type: Oceanview

The Norwalk Virus was alive and spreading, even unto warning signs in bathrooms to wash extra clean. Some got cabin fever throwing up for days, others upon returning home. Worst was a 60yo gal with December perfect labs having her liver fail after 2.5 weeks of Norwalk after departure. (The very next year, news carried Princess had a class action Norwalk suit against them, others having organ complications - which Princess stonewalled.) Norwalk clings to dishes & textiles like glue and even super heated water/bleach doesn't kill it all.

Dancing was margin due to ship rocking fore & esp. aft, where someone intelligently placed the largest dance floor. Best dance music was found in the tightest dance floor bars = uncomfortable unless you only rock and shuffle in a bear hug.

When fogged in returning to port, NO mention of staying in room w/room service, complementary this/that, save a couple of run & get it for exact cash only special drinks @ pool bar. By this time a whole day of people trashing and further polluting the Norwalk public bathrooms.

The dinners were the only bright spot, once you pushed through the opening waiting lines and ignorant to Norwalk suspect dishes served. Very pleasant waiters & room clerks everywhere.

Best defense:

2. or only use your own private bathroom, try to kill dining germs with alcohol & extra cleanliness in bathroom, touching public items as little as possible

Cabin Review

Oceanview D cabin has some headknockers if converted to King/Queen bed for togetherness, otherwise similar to the cheaper college dorm rooms w/private baths

Little French Key

OOHLALA! The best on shore excursion ever taken on any cruise! Paradise upon arrival and duration.

Air Boat Tour

1. Excursions South of the city were banned that day due to shooting/killings, however some made it to Cave-Tubing Adventure & reports around dinner table rated this as #1 over all others

2. Air Boat was fun, so long as long hair is secured, best under a cap (sold there). No manatees seen, the main draw but plenty of other wildlife and a fresh air breezy ride. Riding the bus revealed how very poor this spot is and in the city, felt like fresh meat being eyed through the windows ... that said, the market shopping outing (slim pickings) seemed safe enough

Salsa & Salsa

Hot & sweaty got better upstairs where breezes could get at this horde after a long, rocky boat ride arrival. Slim pickings in shops on the way to "school" = learning in chef hats how to make salsa & margaritas, then salsa dancing with whoever your brought or who might be loose to nab. Short a guy? They'll provide a studmuffin to fill in. Happy when we left, some of the favorite photos taken.

Only preferred due to driving distance, even though Houston traffic exhibits their hate for your car on their roads when passing through.

Always bathrooms rated F + UGH, IF open (they freeze/other).

Parking remote, insiders only locations it seems, 3rd world shuttles, spotcrime.com low rated areas.

Checkin/out deplorable, even if w/paid "red cap" help.
