  • Cabin Type: Deluxe Veranda Suite

My wife and I sailed on October 4th from Monte Carlo to Athens. We have cruised 9 times on 7 different cruise lines. This was our first time with Regent. The ship, common rooms and cabins were the best I have ever seen. However, the staff and crew were new and therefore the service was not as good as I had hoped. The free internet was spotty and inconsistent. The ship also had some problems with the sewage system which left foul odors in the hallways. But in fairness, this is going to happen with any new ship as it “shakes out” it problems and concerns. Activities and entertainment were also not up to par with “the most luxurious ship in the world”. They were good, but not great. Shore excursions are included with Regent, but were too compact and too fast paced. It is very hard to enjoy the scenery around you when you become focused on not losing your tour guide. Dining was excellent as was embarkation and disembarkation. But with the cost the cruise compared to what you get, I don’t feel this was worth the money and I probably will not cruise with Regent again.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda Suite
Cabin G2 630

The cabin was very spacious. The walk-in closet was a nice touch. The shower was big and well appointed. The bedding was nice and comfortable. The sitting area was very well designed and very comfortable. The veranda was a good size, but the deck furniture was over-sized and thus made the veranda not as functional as it could have been. All in all, one of the best cabins we have every experienced.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Monaco (Monte Carlo)

The transfer from the airport in Nice to the port of Monte Carlo was very nice. The driver and host offered to show us around in Nice and Monte Carlo instead of taking us directly to the port where we would have had to just sit around until ship allowed us to embark.

La Spezia (Cinque Terre)

We took a boat and by sea passed by three of the villages. We stopped at the fourth village and visited the local church and was given amble time to explore the town by ourselves.

Florence & Pisa Tour

The tour was mainly by bus. We did stop at a local restaurant for lunch. The tour was 10 and a half hours long. I found Pisa to be very clean and well organized for the vast number of tourists that visit. The tour of Florence was nice and interesting.

St. Peter's Basilica

The tour of the Basilica was *very* crowded. But the tour guild was very good at showing us the various aspects of the Basilica.

Trevi Fountain

The general tour of Rome too much, too fast. Our tour guide walked very briskly and many times left older members of the group behind. We did get to see the Trevi Fountain, but only for a few minutes while we tried to grab some lunch.

Vatican Museums

Also we toured the Sistine Chapel. Also very crowded, but not the fault of the tour. This was the Jubilee year and thus higher than normal numbers of people coming to the Vatican.

Anacapri Walking Tour

We visited Capri and Anacapri. Both tours we nice and we had plenty of time to shop and look around. We did not take the chair lift in Anacapri, but I am told it was very nice.

Tour of Mykonons was very nice. We toured several of the Greek Orthodox chapels and the oldest bakery on the island. There was plenty of time to shop and explore.
