Have never been on a cruise where there were no cruise staff to welcome you on board and offer direction to your cabin. The ship itself was ok, but tired looking. Cheap toiletries ammnenities, had to ask for Kleenex in our cabin. Ridiculous flat old pillows, again had to ask for replacements. Having said this our cabin steward really did a great job looking after our cabin. Friendly and interested in our day.

Dining room food was ok, not outstanding. Nothing special served. The table waiter could not seem to get things organized and was frantic at times......new? Was not willing and/or able to accommodate simple requests, like subbing rice for potatoes for example. i wonder if culturally he didn't get it?!?!? One pays good money to cruise and it would be nice not to feel like you have to argue for simple requests. How about a "certainly we will do that for you", like what we have experienced on Princess cruises. He expressed no interest in our table other than getting the orders taken. No conversation about the day. However the head waiter, Carmen, was amazing and did her best to handle the situation. Breakfast in the upper dining room was full of grumpy servers, barely a "good morning" escaped their lips! We finally went down to the lower dining room 4 days before the end of the cruise and it was very very nice with super friendly staff.

On a happier note, we did dine at Giovanni's Table a few times (to get away from the dining room) and the experience was fantastic!!!! This was fine dining, fantastic food and exceptional service! If anything wasn't quite right the staff did everything plus more to make it right. The head of Giovanni's was amazing as well as the staff. It was such a treat to be there.
