Hubby and I just came back from this Carnival cruise from NY to Halifax and St Johns bay Canada. We always wanted to go on an Alaskan cruise , but too pricey, so we did the next best thing--Canada! We had a great time--the interior state rooms small (of course) , but clean and comfy. We got a new towel animal every night on our bed, and the room stewards were awesome. Lots of different restaurants to choose from , burrito bar, buffet, and Guy Fieri burger joint which was awesome. Other restaurants were an Italian kitchen, a sushi place and a Steakhouse, however these you had to pay for. We didnt go to them for money reasons, but I did go to the sushi place and for $5 I got a bowel of edamame and a large sushi roll. Casino was large, and bar tenders were nice--pricey but good drinks. Lots of activities --including really funny comedians, and great broadway style shows (we saw 3 of them) . My only complaint would be that the buffet food could have been a little bit warmer for out tasting. Not that the food was cold, but wasnt hot enough. Also the shopping stores on the cruise ship are always so pricey. The entertainment director ( i believe her name was Emna or Emily) was amazing--she kept the party going all night. Everything ran really smooth. One of my husbands favorite things was the movies on the deck--we would snuggle in blankets and watch a really good movie on the deck chairs while sailing. It was nice and the breeze was beautiful The Sunshine has an awesome adult lounge with its own pool with a waterfall and lots of hammocks and chairs to lounge on --we also played the mini golf which was fun----the water park looked really nice, large water slides, but never tried it because of the time of year the cruise was--anyway-really recommend this cruise

Port Reviews

Saint John (New Brunswick)

Nice little city. Has a cute market when you get off the ship, that you can buy Canadian related items. There is not really much to do in the city other than some nice English style pubs and some shopping. The jewel of this port are the nature areas including The Bay of Fundy, where you see a low tide change into a high tide and back. Then you can explore the caves that were formed by the tide--We were supposed to go on this excursion , but it was raining alot so we didnt book it.

Halifax

Really liked this city. Has a beautiful board walk with little shops right next to the ocean. Makes for a nice romantic walk and good picture taking. The city has alot of shops with pretty decent prices. We end up going to the Maritime Museum and didnt regret it. One of the best museums I have been too. Lots to see. They have original artifacts for the Titanic and rows, upon rows of artifacts from other sunken ships. Alot to look at. We were going to go to the Halifax fort called Citadel Hill, where stands a fort built in 1749 , where you can self tour, however we ran out of time
