My wife & I did the NE/Canada cruise from Oct. 1-8 out of the Brooklyn terminal. We arrived the day prior and stayed overnight at the Comfort Inn in the Red Hook district of Brooklyn. Hotel is only a 8-10 minute ride to the ship/port. Hotel was nice but is located in a very industrialized are. Nothing much there but a lot of old buildings. We arrived at the port at 11 am and Princess started processing passengers at noontime. After a 30 minute wait, we were on the ship. So, Embarkation was very prompt and easy! We were not allowed to go to our room until 1:30 pm. We had a balcony room, C-125. Room was very nice, the bed was super comfortable. Our cabin steward was outstanding. First time on the Regal and it is a beautiful ship. The Atrium is stunning. We spent much of our time there, as much of the entertainers performed there at night beside in the theater. The biggest change we found between the Regal and the two other Princess ships we been on, the Grand & Sapphire, was the layout of the Horizon Food court. It is very spacious and appealing. There was always a place to eat and we never had to search around for a place to sit. We had TD in the Allegro dinning room with 5:45 pm seating. The food was excellent and exceeded our expectations. Same for the service. The entertainment in Princess Theater was excellent as well. We had to get there 30 mins prior to the show to get a seat, as it filled up fast. The Singers and dancers were great. The comedian was ok, but nothing to get excited about. As for ports we visited:
Newport RI: Used tenders to go to port. Process went well, just took awhile (30-45 mins) to get on the tender to go ashore. We went on a guided bus tour of the city and enjoyed that.
Boston: The was an excellent port, as there is so much to see and do there. We did not book any excursions, but caught a bus at the port and it dropped us off 2 blocks from Quincy market on the water front.
Cabin was roomy for my wife and I. The bed was very comfortable and the shower seemed a little bigger than those on other ships. Another great aspect of this ship was that it is very sound prof. We hardly heard any noise at all at night. They did an excellent job in sound proofing the cabins.
We arrived a day earlier and stayed at the Comfort Inn hotel in Red Hook. The hotel was nice, but is in a very industrialzed area and there is nothing there other than a lot of old buildings.
We caught the bus at the port terminal and it dropped us off on the downtown water front area, 2 blocks from Quincy market. There is so much to see and do in Boston, and we had a great time there.
