They have to stop the smoking on the ship, the casino smoking goes right up into the BB King area, and infiltrates the whole entertainment area. The ship is clean and the staff remains excellent. The ship is considerably larger than Eurodam and Noordam and feels that way, especially when everyone comes on board after tours. The Carnivalization of Holland continues and Holland can do better. The food in the main dining area was as good as other Holland ships and the service was excellent. The wine choices are not good, with the Explore 4 package, and Holland priced decent wines at 50 cents above the $8 maximum drink price, so they could charge the entire $8.50 cent to the passenger. This is truly milking the system. Wines under $8 max ran out in two days on the cruise. Entertainment was excellent the first night when the dancers were involved. Entertainment at the piano bar was fair, but the electronic "grand" pianos were annoying and set at metallic irritating levels. Entertainment in one area(eg dual piano lounge) had to be staggered from the Lincoln Center area, because they have no barriers from one entertainment area to the next--BB King right next to Piano bars, next to Lincoln Center. These problems are deemed fixable in the next new ship and probably this one too, but the ship needs further work. All in all, the Noordam and Eurodam are superior sized ships in our book.

Cabin Review

Neptune Suite with Verandah

good cabin smaller than previous suites on other Holland ships, but bathroom and private toilet area is a big plus.

Port Reviews

Cartagena (Spain)

We did private tours to have better experiences than large bus tours at more reasonable price.
