We have cruised the Caribbean, Alaska and Hawaii so when our friends called about a good deal on a Viking River cruise in France we were intrigued. It ended the day before our 40th Wedding anniversery. Freinds , Anniversery and value--seemed like it was meant to happen. This was the Paris to Normandy cruise on the Kadlin.

The price tag was twice our usual Caribbean cruising and with upfront payment this will probably make River Cruising a special treat not a routine event. We did add the 3 day pre-cruise Paris extension and were glad we made those arrangements.

The pre-cruise extension gave more time to explore Paris on our own and recuperate from the flight before the cruise. Our friends who went straight from the airport to the boat were exhausted for the first 2 days. Our Viking Hotel representative noted her observation that those who come before the cruise enjoy the time more than those who stay after the cruise. Those after the cruise are tired from the cruise.
