Can't say enough about the itinerary, staff, food and condition of the ship! All were terrific! We had sailed on Silhouette during its first year and didn't like the service near as much. Captain Dimitrios K. is so friendly and entertaining. This was a great way for us to visit Israel and other great ports and we would definitely do it again! Felt very safe there as well as in Ephesus Turkey. Only point for improvement: better communication to guests re how to exit the Ashdod port. We were told there was a mandatory daily $20/person shuttle only upon our disembarking the ship, and that since the last shuttle was about 9:30pm, you wouldn't be able to get back through the high security port system to return to the ship if you wanted to stay out later. That sort of defeated the benefits of the ship staying in Ashdod overnight. Later we found out we could have taxied it for $10 each way (total for two of us) and I assume that would have meant we could have stayed out later. Might end up being cheaper to take ship excursions taking this into consideration (we had a private tour arranged, but had to meet them outside the port).

Cabin Review

AquaClass 1

Cabin A1

Big room for disabled, although neither of us are. 1.5 times bigger than normal. We loved being assigned this room by Celebrity and would love it again! Balcony also extra wide. Quiet location, close to steps going to spa and quiet area at front of ship where you can get a morning tea in your robe. Only issue is the shower. Wish there was a drain catch running along floor in front of shower since water can end up flooding entire bathroom. After a few days we got smart and used two beach towels on top of each other as a way of "damming" up the water.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Took a private taxi from Fiumicino airport - Civitavecchia Cab - and they were cheaper with good service. Must book in advance. We had toured Rome previously so no tour this time, just went directly to ship.

Naples

Walked to ferry terminal, 4 minutes from ship. Went to Capri on own. Good ferry system with comfy seats. Capri is gorgeous, a bit crowded in September but worth it! See the Augustus Gardens for sure as they are stunning.

Jerusalem (Ashdod)

Port of Ashdod is very higly secured so not easy to come and go freely. Of course the sights once you get out either by private excursion or via the ship are amazing! Our highlight was Jerusalem and the City of David, right by Wall and Hezekiah's Tunnel. Do not miss the tunnel...... but do not go if you are have claustrophobia.

Kusadasi

Our cameras couldn't stop clicking! Amazing views all around! Crowded and tiny streets everywhere to explore in main towns with lots of shopping and eating. Opa! We took a boat from the port to Oia instead of via the cable car or donkeys. Much faster. Wished we would have eaten at Katena's restaurant upon disembarking at Oia, but got hurried into bus up hill to complete voyage. Our Greek relatives texted us to go there since they give the best portions and you can also dangle feet or swim in sea right there. Got text too late!

Athens (Piraeus)

Swam at Kavouri (Crab) Beach with relatives who live in Athens. Water was amazing temperature and sea floor was sandy. No crowds, small but pleasant with cafe tables close.

Malta (Valletta)

A very busy place! Used hop-on-hop-off bus to tour. 10 Euros each, good all day. Saw Mdina the walled city, which is quiet and quaint with great views. Also stopped at St. Paul's bay for lunch and a bit of shopping. Great relaxing seaside restaurants. We really only had time to do one of the three bus routes but if you didn't get off at any of them, I would think you could probably see whole island in a few hours.
