Left from NY/NJ, easy to get to port, parking reasonable and convenient. Went to Quebec, where we wanted to go, and stayed for 2 nights. Also returned to port we sailed from, saved flying. It was an itinerary we were interested in and fit our needs. This was really a very nice cruise, the service mostly was first rate. Where it wasn't it was corrected quickly and efficiently. The captain [Kate] was outstanding and that was reflected in the crew. Great cabin stewards and dining room service. Dining captain made special effort to have Indian food for my wife [who loves it]. Something you don't see much. Nice ports of call: Boston, Portland [where we met old neighbors], Bar Harbor [where my wife had lunch with an old friend], Quebec [that we wanted to visit], PEI, Sydney that was friendly and Halifax that has grown somewhat since our last visit. Entertainment was decent, especially the entertainers brought on board, the band was great. The on board entertainers were limited, both in their presentations and what they had to work with. Shore excursions were overpriced, [as usual]. 50% more for things you could book on line, off ship. Embarkation and disembarking were not handled well. Not enough crew nor portals to get on and off. Embarkation they gave me another cabin mate. My wife was not happy about that. Wine packages not well represented or presented, had to get head sommelier to get it corrected, but then went well. If you are on a special diet, have to be careful to read their postings, for they are hard to understand. The coffee in the urns is only hot when they first make it. This trip/ship/itinerary is worth taking!!!

Older ship, great time, wonderful captain and crew/service

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom 10
Cabin 10 3028
Nice sized interior cabin. Trying to keep it nicely. Looks like it was updated recently. Plenty of storage space and great service from cabin stewards. A few funky things: no electrical outlets in the bathroom. A/C and heat a bit hard to control. Most everything else satisfactory.

  • Lobster Fishing
Lulu lobster boot. Try to book this directly before you leave [50% less]. But once you take if great! Very informative, interesting and more than you wanted to know about: lobsters, seals, brids & the lighthouse. Well worth while!

  • Historical Tour
2&1/2 hours in private cab. Overcharged-price was in Canadian dollars and he would not lower it for US$. So we ended up paying 25% more. A lot of driving around. Told us we would see 2 lighthouses-only one. This really was not worth while.

  • Montmorency Falls
You really have to be into waterfalls. These are not the greatest. They say they are 50% higher than Niagara. Not the greatest. Expect to spend an hour or so there. Not necessary to take cable car up, can easily walk.
