We’ve not long returned from a two week cruise on Thomson Majesty taking in the Mediterranean Medley and Treasures of the Mediterranean. The itineraries are brilliant, the Majesty is not – the polish is tarnished.

The best bit was our cabin – we did our homework and read that 367 was a bigger outside plus cabin and it was. The biggest cabin we’ve ever had – between the two beds (it should be noted it was a four berth cabin) was two chest of drawers whereas most outside pluses had one and a half chests and ordinary outsides just one. There was three wardrobes, the usual vanity unit and another cupboard/surface housing the fridge and another cupboard. The cabin’s bathroom was also slightly larger than a standard outside (we discovered this when we moved to one for our late check out cabin – they are tiny). The cabin had two big windows. Make a note of the number if you want to prebook your cabin – 373 and I think 377 (forgot the number) were as big as were the equivalent located cabin on the port side. The cabin was kept spotless and we’ve never enjoyed so many different towel animals on our return after dinner and drinks. It should also be noted that we only once felt any movement in the cabin and it was quiet from an engine point of view – not people staggering to bed in the small hours!

The majority of the staff on the ship were very friendly and helpful. Many of the staff are now Eastern European and while they get the job done perfectly well it’s done without the smiles and quick chats of the Filipinos. One girl was outright sullen.
