  3. Viking Sea
We had cruised with Viking on a Rhine River cruise. Because that was such a positive experience, we were very excited when they launched their ocean cruises. We were NOT disappointed!! We have to admit that we were somewhat skeptical going on an ocean cruise, because the "mega ships" carry SO many people. But Viking ships only carry 930 passengers (small in the world of ocean cruising), with a crew of over 400, and we NEVER felt like we were on a ship with that many people. Everything was amazing! The ship was beautiful and spotless with nothing overlooked or forgotten. Literally "smooth sailing" all the way! The crew was exceptional, as with all Viking cruises! The excursions were wonderful, well organized, offered a terrific variety, beautifully executed and VERY interesting and educational. The food on board was excellent, in all of the different venues, from the buffet to the specialty dining. The entertainment was GREAT!!! Everything from booking to disembarkation went smoothly and without a hitch! When Viking found out they wouldn't be able to dock in Barcelona (our embarkation city), they made arrangements to get EVERYONE, whether we had booked transfers through them or not, to our port of embarkation, and they let us know well in advance so we could plan accordingly! We will go again in a heartbeat!! We're looking forward to Viking's expansion into the Alaska market.

Outstanding!! When do we go again?

Cabin Review

Cabin 6072
What a beautiful cabin! Very spacious with a seating area, king sized bed with luxury linens, lovely veranda! There was a LOT of storage space. We never felt cramped. The heated floor in the bathroom was a nice "perk". Our mini-bar was restocked daily with our personal preferences. Our cabin stewards took VERY good care of us. Definitely worth the extra $$ for the extra space and amenities.

  • Gaudi Walking Tour
What an amazing visionary! The Gaudi architecture is SO VERY different than what you would normally get to see. Beautiful!

  • Panoramic Corfu
Having not known that Corfu was an island, we learned a lot. Got to see Mouse Island and a tour of the city, with free time to explore the old town.

  • Land & Sea Tour
This was probably our favorite tour! The boat ride from the ship to the old town was amazing in itself. To get to see the wall from the sea gave a wonderful perspective. Once inside the city, it quickly became our favorite place. We'd go back to Croatia again.

  • Pisa Walking Tour
A great way to see an iconic piece of historic Italy! LOADS of people visiting (it was still high season), so may have lost some of its luster, but still amazing.

  • Monte Carlo Walking Tour
After a quick "tender" ride from the ship to shore, we got to experience Monte Carlo on foot, with an exceptional guide. What an interesting city/country!

  • Pompeii Walking Tour
Our guide was a super star! We got to see a LOT of Pompeii, with all the history to go with it. What an amazing story of ancient history.

  • City Tour
Although it was HOT, the tour was fabulous! We got to see the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, all the highlights! It was a long day, but worth every minute. The crowds were HUGE, but...it was still worth it.

  • Split Riviera
We got to visit the charming town of Trogir and visit the Cathedral of St. Lawrence with all its beautiful stone work. On our way back to Split, we stopped at the Pantan Old Mill to sample prosciutto, bread, cheese and wine, complete with entertainment. Once back in Split, we toured the city center of Diocletian's Palace with its well-preserved Romanesque churches and Gothic chapels.

  • Toulon
We chose to go to Marseilles "on our own", which probably wasn't the best decision for us. We didn't do our "homework" so really didn't put our time to the best use. Marseilles is a lovely city, but we tend to do better with guided tours.

  • Gondola Ride
We shared a gondola with 2 other people and our gondolier. Once we got into the inner canals of the city, it was magical!

  • Venice Walking Tour
This is the way to see Venice!!! You get to explore the "back alleys" and canals without all the crowds of St.Mark's Square (although you DO get to see that, too). You get to learn things that most people don't get to see or hear. Our guide was exceptional!
