This Viking River Cruise from Lyon to Avignon was part 2 of Viking's "Frances Finest". Due to a train strike we took a daylong bus ride from Paris to Lyon instead of a two hour train ride. It would have been nice if Viking had included lunch for us, but otherwise it was an acceptable transfer and we arrived safely.

The cruise ship Delling is well maintained with wonderful cabins, attentive staff, and delicious food up to Viking's usual high standards. The tour guides for the ports and shore excursions were excellent and very knowledgeable. I was impressed with the number and variety of shore excursions. We took a number of optional ones. They included The Abbey of Cluny, the Town of Perouges, the Pont du Gard Aqueduct, and Les Baux & Carrieres de Lumieres. All were excellent and very informative. The on-board activities and entertainment were very good. We had a full schedule everyday which we enjoyed.

We would enthusiastically recommend this cruise. It was our fourth Viking River Cruise and lived up to the excellence we have come to expect from this company.

Cabin Review

French Balcony

We were given a complimentary upgrade which we appreciated. We usually book a deluxe stateroom. Both provide a comfortable cabin and excellent service.
