We chose the cruise primarily because of its itinerary - Istanbul, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia and Venice. Due to terrorist events in Istanbul, the Viking Sea embarked early, but Viking arranged satisfactory port alternatives. We appreciated their concern for our safety. Security was always taken seriously. Fortunately for us, we had arranged for several days of private touring in Istanbul before our cruise, so we did get to enjoy the city.

This was the Viking Sea's maiden voyage, so everything was new and beautiful! But, the crew was experienced and there were no lapses in service. All of our dining experiences were excellent, especially in the specialty restaurants on board. There was always a good variety of menu selections. We also enjoyed the various regional wines included with our dinners.

The fitness center facilities were first class and helped us keep our weight under control. Read more
