The cruise was pretty good overall despite having some adverse weather on both outbound and inbound journeys. However the ship seems to handle the swell pretty good.
Sadly the ship is showing signs of age and a constant sewage smell was evident around certain areas of the ship.
The buffet was the usual bun fight with many passengers remaining at the tables even though they had finished eating. Consequently it was always a job finding a table. The food was reasonable at breakfast with a decent choice, lunch was manic and tea was adequate. The themed dinners were a bit in and out. Some good some bad. Oddly enough he Best of Britain theme was probably the worst.
Cabin Review
Deluxe Stateroom with Balcony and Bath/Shower
The cabin was quite good and kept in good order by our steward Stanley. The position was very good and the balcony clean and tidy, although better more comfortable furniture would be a benefit.
An interactive tv would also enhance the cabin facilities.
There was plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space and the tea/ coffee making tray was kept full at all times.
The cabin bedding looked a little tired at times but was always clean and changed regularly. Better pillows would be nice.
Our downside that we had a loud banging throughout the cruise from the bulkhead wall outside the cabin, which echoed through. Although constant it wasn't consistent and could happen at any time. Day or night. Indeed one night we were awakened at 05.30 by it .despite our very concentrated efforts to get this problem solved, by nor ing the front desk, have the Deck manager hear it, have several other staff members listen toot and have an Engineering Officer hear it, the problem was never resolved fully.
On four of the first six days the toilet system failed to work in the morning. Eventually it was discovered that other passengers were putting foreign items down and blocking the system for everyone. The majority of passengers had cruised before and they really should have known better.
