We wanted to see the Greek islands. We scheduled to leave out of Istanbul but the State Department warning level got too high and Viking was on top of it. They handled all changes to the itinerary very well including resets of the plane transportation. To compensate for the loss of some Turkish port stops, additional Greek and Adriatic ports were substituted along with the usual excursion/tour at each port. We only opted for an optional tour once (in Athens) as the included tours were excellent and covered much in each port. The Viking Sea is of course one of the new ships with under 1000 customers and therefor none of the stress of the larger ships (need to be someplace doing something at all times). Only the Sanorini tour suffered from an excess of people on other tours spoiling the experience. The accommodations were very good although to combat people like me leaving the slider deck door open all the time the off switch to the air conditioner is tied to it. The food was very well prepared with many choices. All staff was friendly and professional. Over 20 years ago I observed the staff response at a Ritz Carlton to each acknowledgement of them (thank you) to be "my pleasure". Likewise for Viking.
