This cruise was "sisters and spouses" trip. We were very glad that we picked the direction of travel from Basel to Amsterdam. Because of the speed of the river, we got more time at the stops to sightsee. The included excursions at each stop were very worthwhile and a very good quality. The guides for each of the excursions were knowledgeable, informed, friendly, and so on. We really appreciated that we were provided with bottled water each day. About the ship it self, our wait staff for meals, room staff, lounge staff, were all going above our expectations. The suite we chose was very up to date, really what we expected size-wise: a little tight around the bed, good closet and shelf space, and a typical smaller boat-style bathroom. The food quality and choices were better the we expected. They were very willing to customize food for your needs and wants. We spent extra days in both Basel and Amsterdam on our own, booking hotels, museum tickets, and so on. Definitely glad we booked this cruise, and it has encouraged us to check out other Viking trips.
