We - my husband and I - had been wanting to do a Rhine river cruise for a long time. We looked at several lines that had similar prices, but chose Viking because of the stop at Kinderdijk and because we liked the clean modern look of the ships.

From the very first phone call, dealing with Viking was a breeze. I'd read some not so complementary comments on their customer service, but we had no issues at all. They even sent me a set of their own brand toiletries ahead of time so I could see if I had an problems with allergies. I didn't!

Embarkation was a breeze and we lucked out with the Mani docked at one of the prime locations in Amsterdam. We had lunch on the ship, then wecould have done the walking tour, but since it was close, we chose to visit the National Maritime Museum instead. When we returned around 2-2:30p, we were told our room was ready.

Cabin Review

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin B

I was a little concerned because this cabin was nearly at the back of the ship, but there was very little noise or vibration from the engines - mostly going through locks. I think there were crew cabins below us.

The bed was comfy. There were plenty of drawers and closet space. The bathroom was fine. We had hot weather so we didn't use the heated floors. We chose this room because it had a bit more space than the French balcony rooms. We had a chair inside - those do not.

And we did get enough use out of the balcony to make it worth the extra cost. I was fascinated by the locks and woke up to find us going through one, so I was able to go out in my PJs and a hoodie to take pics!

Port Reviews

Rudesheim

We did a brief walking tour, and stopped in some of the shops - loved the Christmas shop. We went back after dinner, but it wasn't as lively as we thought it would be.
