3rd (silver) NCL cruise, my partner just finished his 8th (platinum). The ship is very nice, spotless and the staff is exceptional all around. The term "Free" style really needs to be amended. Once again, NCL is nickle an dimeing (sp?) passengers endlessly. First night at Tropicana Room, free dining room but any special entrees were an additional charge. Can't say I every saw anybody at Margaritaville which is also an a la carte restaurant. When we booked we were given the free unlimited dining plan. We called probably 10 times or more after we booked and not one person ever told us the Ultimate Dining Plan is for 4 nights only. How embarrassing when we showed up at La Cucina for 5th night of specialty dining and told sorry you have used up your plan! Wow that was a surprise. Unlimited Drinks Package was fine. Any special food places on the ship like the Bakery, Gelato, Ocean Blue, Raw Bar, etc. all cost extra money to partake in. Extra charge in any restaurant for capuccino or espresso. Really? Extra charge for what? Steaming the milk you would put in your coffee anyway?? Each cruise we have taken has been less and less about customer satisfaction and more and more about increasing prices and costs. O'Sheehan's is a total waste of time. The food is mediocre at best and is just a factory of pre-plated meals. We found with this cruise, the food was extremely highly salted which we did not experience before. We are planning another cruise but probably not on NCL. We had a balcony room 14th floor aft. It was very compact. No way two people can try to access the closet at the same time as there is probably 10 inches between the bed and closet, bathroom is ok. The lighting in the room is terrible for putting on makeup and fixing your hair. We also paid extra for the Vibe Beach Club. This was not as enjoyable as in other cruises, rather noisy this time around. They have these huge Cabana's on one side that block the view of the ocean and breeze. The bar staff was exceptional though, very friendly and attentive. The spa was enjoyable. We took advantage of using it most days. The on board free entertainment is good. Burn the Floor and Million Dollar Quartet are free shows. We declined the opportunity to pay extra money for the Illusionarium or the dinner show. We did it on the Escape and the show was good, the dinner was ok at best. Most people say the same thing about the pay extra for entertainment on the ship and that is that all entertainment should be free.

Thinking of trying another cruise line...

Words can't describe the beauty of this little sliver of heaven in the Sea. You embark on a high speed boat from Belize City for about a 45 minute ride into the sea. Then Goff's Cay appears and it is breathtakingly beautiful/ We chose to snorkel so we stayed on the boat and they take you a little ways away from the Cay. The staff on the boat is great, they help with the gear, etc. and the snorkel tour is guided. The water is a little rough and scary at first because you are in the middle of the sea and the waves are pretty high. Once you put your face in the water and see the beautiful fish and coral, all fear is gone. I was amazed at the beauty under the surface. The snorkel lasts about 45 minutes which is enough and it ends at the beach at the Cay. After snorkeling you are free to enjoy the water and the beach. Have to say the lunch offered was delicious!!!!! 8 for 1/2 chicken, rice and beans and corn. 12 for two lobster tails, rice and beans and corn. Well worth the money and the wait. Bring cash as they only take cash. Rum Punch is free and flows freely!!! Great day, very relaxing and so beautiful. Well worth the 49 fee for this excursion!!

We were traveling with 2 Senior Citizens and one required wheel chair assistance, this was not available to us. That is a bit of a problem for older travelers.

Little French Key excursion was excellent. Once you leave the ship you walk thru the port and the staff of Little French Key is there. You take a 30 minute bus ride to the resort. Once you arrive, you will be charmed. The resort opens to a great zoo with a lot of animals. Once you get to the beach you find a ton of places to relax. There are a lot of lounge chairs and lounge chairs that actually go in the water. The resort is broken into many areas so you can find just what you want, quiet to not so quiet. The water is a gorgeous clear turquoise blue. You can basically walk to all areas in the water as it is not very deep. They have a variety of activities to engage in if you want to. We had lunch and it was terrific. 22 for a mixed plate of beef, chicken and lobster. 15 for beef and chicken and all come with rice and beans and yucca chips. The staff is exceptional, they continually come by to see if you need anything or they can do anything to help you, etc. The resort was very clean and not crazy crowded. I definitely recommend this excursion. It is good for all ages.
