We like Norwegian as it is our 4th cruise on this cruise line. We decided to take this cruise 8 days before as it had a Western Caribbean cruise itinerary & Costa Maya was one of the stops we wanted to visit. .We wanted to try the Getaway for it was only 2 years old & liked the lay out of the ships decks from our research.
Have sailed on the Norway (A neat older ship & only our 2nd cruise but hooked us on cruising. The other ships the "Dawn" & the "Pearl" both were unique & we really liked both of them. So we knew the "Getaway" was a no brain-er. We have cruised other cruise lines as we have always chosen price & itinerary as most important but Norwegian is one of our favorites based on our experiences on all 4 ships we have been on.
From the moment we got to the Port of Miami we had a very easy time getting thru the check points & an easy embarkation. Was on board at 12:10 & proceeded to explore the ship.
Pleasantly surprised at the space & layout of our stateroom. Lots of storage space & bathroom was laid out for ease of maneuver. Being 207 sq ft it was easy to get to the bed with the sofa & desk area before the bed & neat little balcony to sit out on which we often did thanks to the wonderful weather. Had a very efficient cabin steward & a couple of times was stopped to ask about our room from 2 of the housekeeping officers & presented their cards to us to make us feel important. Our cabin steward right away remembered our names & always asked how our cruise was going every time we saw him.
Took a tender in & just walked around. it was Belize's Independence Day but only saw some flags up. Nothing special for the tourists to see or do which is there mainstay of income at Belize City
Love Cozumel but had just been there in January so walked the street along the waterfront & from a friend we met on the cruise found a wholesale liquor store & found Tequila & Rum at 1/3 the cost of other places.
