We choose QM2 over flying to Europe when the price becomes competitive. It did this Aug and we cancelled free tickets to take advantage. Although Cunard makes much ballyhoo over the remastering, it was confined principally to the Grill accommodations. The rest of the ship received new carpet. They did replace the disgraceful windows on deck 3 and they made significant improvements to the disastrous Kings Court buffet. Did not detect any change to standard cabins which were still quite nice. They also removed the elevator that went from decks 2-3 to 7. Never did understand why it was there. And a personal critique, they corrected the text on the photo of Ginger Rogers which was very wrong and which we had brought to their attention in the past. Sadly, the service which prior to dry dock had become worthy of Cunard, slipped a few notches and remains below that of other cruise lines, notably Princess which remains our favorite. This has been a shortcoming of Cunard since they abandoned the all British staff. Except for substituting for air fare, no reason to sail Cunard.
We had an obstructed balcony. It was the in hull so that you had to stand to see the water, but on a TA who cares! Very nice spacious room.
