Unfortunately NCL went back to the bad service, they nearly had overcome 5-6 years ago - the service in the dining room was slow, not well trained, the maitre d´s seemed to hide in the kitchen instead of checking on their employees. Some examples: at one breakfast we wanted some cold ham and salami - they brought some unnamed sausage together with some greasy paprika-loaded thing. The "over easy" eggs very often were hard or even burned. The buffet is dirty, everything sticky, they take very long to clean the table after other passengers. Nobody ever asked us if we wanted anything from the bar during buffet lunch. In the bars you best shout out loud, if you want a drink, if not, they will ignore you in most of the bars.

The maintenance is really poor - our toilet did not work properly from day one, they were not able to repair it although we told them several times. In the elevators some of the buttons are broken - in one elevator you cannot get out at deck 8......They "refurbished" the cabins, so that now the bedlight is UNDER the pillow, hidden by the matress. In the - already quite small - bathroom they added a glass (!!!!) door between the sink and the toilet, so now you can neither use the sink comfortably nor enter the toilet without squeezing in with great effort. But because of the glass door - you are still not shielded from looks from outside....

The animation is quite poor, especially at the trivias you cannot understand the questions without speaking portuguese - as the 2 brazilian people have such an accent that nobody knows what they are talking about. Only the russian girl Christina was intelligent enough to type the questions and send it to the beamer - so you had a chance to at least get the question.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

if you do not go to rome, you will be brought to a parking far away from the center of Civitavecchia - no chance for shopping or even a nice cafe near the seaside. There only is one bus continuing to the train station - which is far from the center on the other side of town. There are no cabs either, so either walk far or stay on the ship.

Naples

port is in town center, so you can easily walk everywhere.

Toulon

there is nothing in Toulon, I will never understand why ships stop there.

Florence (Livorno)

Livorno is terrible, and Florence and Pisa are really far away....
