I read a lot of reviews about the Spirit before booking and then before we left. I mainly picked the Spirit because of the itinerary - and it did not disappoint. It was a nice mix of days at sea to relax and enjoy, along with fantastic ports of call, one more exotic and exciting than the next. The food was really good, especially in the specialty dining rooms. My favorite will the Italian and the French. Just excellent meals in both of these. I actually also enjoyed Windows, the main dining room. Nice atmosphere, great service, always something good to choose from. Also enjoyed the shows. They had four tenors that performed twice, 4ever. They were superb!
I'll give a rundown of the ports. We embarked from Venice. What can you say? Most unique city in the world. We stayed outside the city in Quarto D'Altino, a ship-sponsored hotel. It was fine, actually was quite an adventure to take the train into the city, nice breakfast.
First city was Dubronik. Beautiful, medieval, very walkable, just walk right off the ship. Hiked the wall, then went to the island of Lokrum (just grab a ferry at the dock, wasn't expensive), beautiful place with peacocks and giant rabbits roaming about, beach, just really cool.
Our cabin was quite roomy, fine for 2. Nice balcony. Our cabin steward, Christina, was so sweet and accommodating. Bed was super comfy, plus lots of comfy pillows. Adequate space around the sink in bathroom for toiletries, good water pressure in the shower.
Just walk right off. Cool walled city. Go out to Lokrum, island with lots of wildlife, great beach.
Try out the water buses. We went out to Murano and Burano, super fun. Obviously, very walkable city.
Beautiful sail-in, don't miss it. Took the Hop On/Hop Off to Perast. Lots of photo ops on the drive. Great walkable city.
Beautiful. Beautiful. Took the city bus out to Paradise Beach. Again, beautiful. Had lunch near the pier. Take lots of photos.
Rode the bus to the Acropolis, go early but don't miss it. Then went to the Plaka area, right down the hill, lots of nice affordable restaurants and shopping.
Booked a winery tour through the cruise ship, plus they took us to two other small towns. Very relaxing, very nice.
