The Viking River Cruise had been recommended by several of our "traveling friends". We were disappointed to find that the itinerary caters to a more sedentary customer. The staff was quite pleasant and the boat was clean and comfortable...but do not book one of the suites---there is no special service for you once you are on board---just a bigger room. The posts visited were quite interesting but there is more time spent on motor coaches than seeing the sights and very limited walking and time in the fresh air. The food on board was adequate but lacked diversity and could benefit from more healthy choices on the menu. This cruise is designed for a non active crowd that is spending their days sitting on buses and at dining tables and is not interested in learning about the region. I would consider these things when choosing Viking. Great staff, clean and well appointed rooms but work to be done on the excursions, entertainment and dining.
