We chose Viking's Paris and the Heart of Normandy river cruise because we wanted to visit the Beaches of Normandy and pay our respects to all the brave souls who gave up their lives so we could enjoy the freedoms we enjoy today.
This was our third Viking cruise. We went on the Portraits of Southern France and enjoyed it so much, we took the Amsterdam to Budapest, with a three day extension to Prague, last year. We also have an ocean cruise and another river cruise booked with Viking for next year.
The Viking experience is wonderful. We booked the flights along with the cruise and were met at the airport and whisked to our boat, the Kadlin. We were there so early, we had a small breakfast and later lunch and went on a brief walking tour in the afternoon. All of the transfers are included, which makes for a seamless vacation. All we have to do is relax, enjoy fellow passengers, the wonderfully modern boat, the friendly staff, food and drinks along with nightly entertainment - opera singers, piano virtuoso and informative talks before our dinner to go through the next day's activities.
Very comfortable, well appointed cabin with a lovey veranda. Nice bottle of water provided each day. Headphones so we could enjoy the daily guided tours. Great to be able to get wifi on the boat. The fridge came in handy as well. Fragrant high-end toiletries provided as well. Most comfortable bed, pillows and linens.
Lovely overview of the hilights of Paris. Loved the Eiffel Tower which was more breathtaking than ever imagined.
Very moving tribute to the D-Day Landing Beaches of Juno and the Commonwealrh.
Loveliest gardens we ever had the pleasure of visiting.
