Sail Date: Sep 2016
Cabin: Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

We sail on NCL routinely and always enjoy the nuances of each of their ships. The Breakaway is a very large ship and I enjoy this class of ships as they are usually newer and "feel clean and shiny " . They also have a multitude of venues for dining and entertainment. My husband prefers the medium size ship and I do enjoy those too, I just like the diversity of the large ships.

We always enjoy each ship that we are on and in order to enjoy cruising, my recommendation is to be as flexible as possible and just have fun.

We enjoyed "Rock of Ages" the 80's musical and we had a great time at the blues/jazz club. We also had fun in the casino, although it is very smokey and I wish that if people are not gambling, that they not be allowed to just stand by the machines and smoke. There are other designated areas on the ship that they should be encouraged/instructed to go to.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Our cabin was clean and always freshly taken care of. We had one of the slanted balconies that has a lot more room than the regular balconies. I have noticed that on the larger ships, the balconies (except for the one that we had) feel a lot smaller then on the Jewel class ships. The square footage may not be so drastic but the regular balconies on the Breakaway are very tight for two people to sit out on.

Port Reviews

King's Wharf

We did not take any planned excursions, we got a two day bus/ferry pass and did our own thing. The first day was limited due to heavy rain but we did take the Ferry to Hamilton.

New York (Manhattan)

We fly in from California to where ever the ship is leaving from. We flew into La Guardia the day before, had a car service pick us up and took a taxi back, both cost about the same which was $45 plus tip. We spent the night at a hotel at the airport prior to sailing. We did not have time to tour the city this trip
