My wife and I took this trip just to get away. We are platinum members which should indicate we are experienced cruisers on Princess. We rarely complain and are usually quite laid back. However, Regal Princess was a prime example of Princess going down hill. We felt that this "flagship" had gimmicks instead of improvements. A glass bottom walk-way which allows one to look down over the water, as well as other passenger's balconies is one of those gimmicks. All one has to do is look over the railing. The multi-color waterworks set to music was never experienced due to wind conditions. Our inside cabin was redesigned to be smaller. I believe this was due to another gimmick, the enlarged atrium. The casino was on the deck above the floor of the atrium. That, along with very poor, for the most part, loud entertainment in the atrium, made it almost impossible to find a quiet spot to read, talk or just look out over the sea. The entertainment itself was of very low quality. I blame that on the Cruise Director. The TV studio for the "Wake Show" is another unnecessary gimmick. On thing We do like on-board is to play Trivia. Most of Trivia was played in the TV studio, which is not conducive for gathering around in a circle to confer with your team players. The food was nothing special. As it is with most cruise lines now, if one wants really good quality food and service, one must go to a "Speciality Restaurant". One used to get that quality in the regular restaurants. The food on the Lido deck was rarely hot and continually warmed over. There was an excellent selection of recent movie in the cabins. Our cabin steward was also excellent. All in all, I will most likely not cruise on Princess again.
Too small. But, then again, one only sleeps and changes clothes.
...continuation of Kristiansand experience.
