This was a family cruise, 2 adults and our littles that are 4 &6. We have always said Royal Caribbean and was a little hesitant to cruise Carnival as we have heard alot of flack about it being sub par. We decided to take Carnival for the family fun atmosphere and the ports of call. Our ports were Grand Turk, La Romana Dominican, Bonaire, & Aruba. We flew from NY to Ft. Lauderdale and stayed overnight. We got to the port early as advised by our hotel and the boarding process was not bad at all. Our room was not ready until after we got on the ship, so we headed to the lido deck to the buffet. Guy's Burger Bar was open and we hit that up. It was really good believe it or not. We then walked around the ship and finally went down and found our stateroom. We got oceanview, with a nice big window. Our steward, Kris, came over right away to introduce himself and let us know if there was anything we needed to let him know. We had a king bed and the kids had the couch and pulldown which looked like bunk beds. Kris made sure to come find us everyday to make sure everything was good and he was so loving towards my kids! He needs to be recognized!!!

The main dining room food was very good. I loved the diversity of the foods and of course you can order how many of whatever you want so you were able to taste the different dishes. We also spent extra $ and went to the Point Steakhouse on board and it was very very good.

The staff on board were amazing and so nice. Our Cruise Director Hayley was the BEST! She kept everyone on board smiling and entertained along with the entertainment staff with a big shoutout to Alana! Hayley was always so loving towards my family and spoiled our kids. Another recognization goes to DJ Vinny who is now the entertainment director. He always wore a smile and became like family to us. Christian who worked the buffet room/line was always very accommodating and sweet! He would always see us and stop to say hi and high five the kids. We felt like the staff was like family to us.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

The port was easy to get to and we had no problems. Stayed at a Marriott 10 min away w a free shuttle.

Grand Turk

We hung out at the beach right off the dock and it was fine. it was not overly crowded as per other reviews. The water was crystal clear and I got see a nurse shark! Vendors were very annoying on the beach.

La Romana (Casa de Campo)

This was such a waste of a stop and needs to be taken off the itinerary. The port was super small and it was not safe to leave. People who did venture off, had to take a 35 min ride to the next town over where they said vendors were grabbing at them and trying to rip money out of their hands! The excursions were very expensive as well....we stayed on the ship.

Bonaire

One of my bucket list places! The beauty of this island is priceless. The water is like glass and so clean. We got off the ship and to the left was the Caribe Water Sports. For $15 a person and $5 for kids we took the water taxi over to Klein Bonaire. The water there was bluer than blue and the BEST snorkeling I have ever done! The people are so kind and warm here.

Aruba

We are normal visitors to this island, so we had set up a rental car and went up north to Arashi beach and visited our Arubian friends. Our home away from home!
