Wonderfully good and shockingly bad - don't believe the Cunard hype.

This was our first cruise and probably our last and never with Cunard again. We chose Cunard on reputation, one that we found is not all it seems. It was a paradox. Both excellent and dreadful. We stayed in a Queens Suite with the accompanying Queens Grill. This was excellent and without fault. The butlers and waiters were a delight - nothing was too much trouble. The plush sun beds, afternoon tea, nicely appointed suite with plenty of free Bombay gin....all absolutely perfect. As soon as you venture off decks 11 & 12 and head below it all goes horribly wrong. Rude staff (plenty of them and all front of house oddly), the Lido 'transport' cafe, dreadfully poor entertainment, dull shopping, and guests in shorts, flip flops and slippers while you are trussed up in a tuxedo - so much for the dress code. They also manged to mess up both the embarkation and disembarkation with the private transport over an hour late and then not even showing up. As for the outrageously expensive 'Cunard' excursion, avoid these if you, a.) Want to enjoy your trip b.) avoid feeling completely ripped off. I could write a thesis on our experience but as far to say if we had not stayed in the Queen's Grill this would have been one of the most disappointing holidays in over 20 years. Back to flying to real luxury hotels in beautiful countries.

Cabin Q3

Absolute happy with the suite - perfect size and no need for anything bigger. Had a look at the smaller cabins and they felt like a cell. Balcony had sunbeds and a large table so was used more than i expected. Bath and shower was welcome. Only two UK plug sockets was restrictive but we managed. Take US/UK adapters if you require more than two. It would have been nice to have one of the phones by the bed and not on the dressing table but that was me being lazy.
