We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. It visited a number of places that we hadn't been, and was an economic way to see more of that part of the world.
We really liked the helpful attitudes of all of the staff that we encountered. We had a problem with night time noise in our cabin (2181), and they dealt with the issue in a timely and appropriate way.
The food variety and selection was excellent, with the possible exception of the quality of the deserts. The ingredients (e.g. the use of fresh cream) sometimes had the taste and appearance of being mass produced in the most economic way possible. Water was served at every meal in the MDR. Our last ( and ONLY) cruise with MSC did not provide this. There was also a lack of fresh fruit variety. I was looking forward to consuming massive amounts of blueberries as we were in the "blueberry capital" of the world and it was blueberry season...but not a fresh blueberry was to be seen.
We were moved to this Cabin because we experienced high levels of night time noise in our original cabin (2181).
I actually don't know the category of the cabin. It had a big window, ocean view. The site makes me select one, but I am guessing.
The bed was situated side on to the window. 2181 had the bed positioned longways, with the bedhead against the window.
The toiletries provided fall through the little wire mesh basket in the shower, so be prepared to dive around on the floor chasing tubes of shampoo if you use the ships' supplies. There is a drying line in the shower. This was very useful to us, as we use the gym daily and can wash out our gym stuff and have them dry by the next day.
The bed is firm enough and comfortable. There is an abundance of different towel sizes. The upkeep of the grouting would not win a World Best Standard award, and there was a lot of silicon present. Our toilet broke and was repaired very promptly . Lots of storage and our suitcases fitted under the bed.
