The best part of this cruise were the passengers. An older crowd, I found courteous, friendly, diverse, and very interesting. The ship itself was well decorated but clean enough. In the public areas I found dirty bathrooms. My cabin had areas that we had to remind the cabin steward to clean. I generally like to sit around the ship and listen to the live music. I did not find the choices much to my liking. Our favorite activity was the dance lessons. Other than than that we didn't find enough to maintain our interest. Although, I must say most of the time we were happy just sitting upstairs in the Serentiy area in one of the pods and reading. I likes the gym as well. The shows were very amateurish, though I give the performers A for effort. It just lacked the production values I have seen on other ships. While I usually like going to the casin, I didn't on this ship. It was just too smokey. Other ships offer smoke free evenings. Carnival does not. The restaurant service was very good, among the best I have found. However, for a non meat eater the choices on the menu were too limiting. I ended up eating the Salmon 90 percet of the time. I would say the same for the boufet, where it was smoked almon or tuna fish just about everyday. Breakfast was much more satisfying. The excursions offered by Carnival were seemingly of good value as they were cehaper than other cruise lines. However, we were disappointed in the way the guides prioritized the stops. For instance we spent the same amount of time stopped at a shopping area as we did at the Canyon in Kauai. Consequently, with most of the excursions we felt we did not have enough time at the most important syops.

Hilo

This was a beautiful place. My disappointment was that we had too little time there
