Just returned from two weeks on Allure OTS. One week encompassed the President's cruise, an experience which made the two weeks vastly different with positive and negatives to each.
Allure is a beautiful ship with so much to do, truly a floating resort and I marvel at the number of people to pan the ship for the vary thing that makes it so unique; the endless array of entertainment and activities. The week of the president's cruise the entertainment offerings were doubled and tripled, and offered entertainment by Patty LaBelle as well as a Beatles tribute band, and excellent male "Sinatra" like singer, and a magician (marginal). The much touted Patty LaBelle concert had (unfortunately) a very narrow appeal; the passengers either loved her loud, almost screaming like, style, or they hated it. Those who hated it walked out mumbling which was actually quite disrespectful, but, when on vacation people resent using their time for things they do not enjoy. My thoughts were that RCCL probably will consider an top name entertainer with wider and more generational appeal for future special cruises. However, with so much to do, it was probably not a deal breaker for those who did not stay through the performance.
I had a balcony room on Central park the first week, and on the Boardwalk the second, since I enjoy both locations on this ship. Cabin attendants, Mark on 9 and Eddie on 11 were the best I have ever experienced on RCCL, and I have never had poor cabin service on RCCL !
Unusually late and LOUD music and entertainment during the president's cruise, but otherwise, a wonderful location and great views.
